Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Engineers act as the technical expert in one of the disciplines required by the organization (mechanical, electrical). Assist in the planning, organization, and control of engineering activities of a project within a professional discipline to best accomplish the successful completion of all projects assigned. Operating within the guidelines established by the Director of Engineering or Discipline Engineering Manager and within the policies and procedures established by the firm. Responsible for coordinating all aspects of projects assigned to them.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the engineering design (in their area of technical expertise) of projects assigned by the Project Manager.
Review project fee contract and scope of work.
Participate in project kick-off meeting with all consultants to discuss schedule, scope and determine required information.
Delegate / assign work to Student or Co-op Engineering Interns, provide engineering training to and review / check their completed work.
Complete projects within assigned budget hours and schedule.
Assist the Project Manager by reviewing the project status, budget hours and schedule. Identify any issues related to expended time vs. budgeted hours.
Recognize when projects are approaching allocated / budgeted hours.
Notify Project Manager and assist with issuing change of service forms to clients for approval prior to completion of services.
Assist with construction management in reviewing shop drawings and submittals during project construction phase.
Follow client/firm quality assurance procedures.
Research applicable building codes, standards, and various industry products.
Perform other designated tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical) through an ABET accredited university.
Four to six years of experience in design in their area of expertise.
Proficient use of a variety of software including, but not limited to, Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical) through an ABET accredited university.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure.
Maintain engineering license in at least one state.
