This project posed unique challenges due to the site’s unusual shape, which naturally generated dramatic swooping curves that defined the building’s character and entrance experience. The design embraced its environmental context, adhering to strict height restrictions to preserve unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains. The west-facing façade, notoriously difficult to manage in Tucson’s climate, was elegantly addressed with clerestory windows that direct natural light upward and downward, avoiding glare while enhancing the interior ambiance.

The building’s form incorporates two counter-curving shapes, adding visual interest and personality through thoughtfully layered details like mullions, chevron-patterned metal finishes, and distinctive bollards. Sensitivity to user experience was a priority, ensuring patient comfort with features like a covered walkway and drop-off area. The building’s design sets a bold precedent for functionality and architectural flair, blending environmental responsiveness with thoughtful details that elevate its personality.
