Apartment living in West Covina.

The Walnut Creek Apartments project is a newly constructed three-story, 51-unit apartment building featuring an underground garage. Our design team strategically elevated the entire structure on a concrete platform, minimizing the depth required for the underground parking while maintaining seamless integration with the urban streetscape. This unique solution required thoughtful planning for resident access, as the building sits above sidewalk level, as well as careful placement of depth-dependent features like planting areas and the pool.

Drawing inspiration from the urban townhome entrances of the apartments across the street, we reinterpreted this design element to create a double-loaded, walkable city streetscape that enhances the neighborhood’s pedestrian experience. Throughout the project, we navigated a rigorous architectural review process, including attempts to secure variances for additional units and exploring alternative architectural styles to meet city requirements. The final design harmoniously balances functionality, aesthetic appeal, and urban connectivity.
