Onyx Creative assisted in transforming existing tenant spaces into the new homes for signature melted cheese sandwich restaurants in various locations throughout Ohio. Recent locations include Canton, Cedar Point, Avon and the original flagship store in Lakewood, Ohio.
Melt Bar & Grilled was born from Cleveland musician and chef Matt Fish’s love of two things: great craft beer and the humble grilled cheese sandwich. The impetus for Melt’s selection of gourmet grilled cheese was to bring classic American dishes to the table in an unpretentious, truly unique and fun way. The first restaurant was established in 2006 in Lakewood, Ohio and quickly transformed from a tiny punk rock beer bar to the biggest culinary buzz to hit greater Cleveland in decades.
Often built out in former restaurant space, each new location needs to be transformed to meet the signature Melt program. The space is to become as vibrant and exciting as the culinary presentations. Bold opposing colors along with locally themed artwork and graphics provide the “buzz” that varies from location to location. An open plan with eye-catching zones to break the visual plane is critical to differentiate between the dining areas and the bar area.
The Avon, Ohio 5,500 SF Melt restaurant has an open dining plan, a large bar area, and an enclosed patio filled with natural light. The dining area is filled with four and six-seat wooden top tables to accommodate families and large groups of people. Open sightlines promote social engagement and liveliness. The enclosed patio features metal garage doors around the entire perimeter which opens during warm months to create access to the outdoors.
