As malls move away from small stores and give way to larger national chains the response has been to promote an outdoor streetscape with many identities catering to the larger tenants. This project for Tri-County Mall solves the problem of turning a mall inside out by melding with urban design. The scale of the project is tremendous from a pedestrian perspective, so breaking the project into clear elements with a street rhythm is critical. Blending unique storefronts with unexpected materials makes the project feel current while having a timeless sense of design.
