Structural Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for design and drafting that meets the client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards. Candidate must be a positive team player, be personable and a clear communicator. Attentiveness to clients’ needs is critical. An ideal candidate will match the company’s relaxed, collaborative office culture.Operating within the guidelines established by the Director of Engineering or Discipline Engineering Manager and within the policies and procedures established by the firm. Responsible for coordinating all aspects of projects assigned to them.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the structural engineering design of projects assigned by the Project Manager.
Review project fee contract and scope of work.
Participate in project kick-off meeting with all consultants to discuss schedule, scope and determine required information.
Delegate / assign work to Student or Co-op Engineering Interns, provide engineering training to and review / check their completed work.
Complete projects within assigned budget hours and schedule.
Assist the Project Manager by reviewing the project status, budget hours and schedule. Identify any issues related to expended time vs. budgeted hours.
Recognize when projects are approaching allocated / budgeted hours.
Notify Project Manager and assist with issuing change of service forms to clients for approval prior to completion of services.
Assist with construction management in reviewing shop drawings and submittals during project construction phase.
Follow client/firm quality assurance procedures.
Research applicable building codes, standards, and various industry products.
Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
Perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, periodic construction site observation, and occasional specialized structural inspections
Collaborate with architects and designers and building contractors on design and construction of projects
Analysis and design of steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and light gage structures
Analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations
Perform other designated tasks as assigned.

Framing plans, foundation plans, building elevations and sections.
Perform other designated tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
5+ years of experience in structural design and drafting of buildings or other structures.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, ABET accredited university preferred.
Proficient use of a variety of software including, but not limited to Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam.
Possible use of a variety of software including, but not limited to, Sketch Up, Visual Analysis, RAM Structural, FTP programs/utilities, Procore.
The ability to perform structural surveys of existing buildings anywhere in the country is a plus.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) licensure.
Maintain engineering license in at least one state.
